In this painting I explore the quiet beauty of water lilies as they emerge through layers of colour, light, and atmosphere. Working with acrylic and mixed media, I built the surface through soft veils of blue-green, muted neutrals, and touches of warm light, creating a sense of place that feels remembered rather than observed. The three lilies appear at different stages of opening, introducing a gentle rhythm across the composition and suggesting themes of growth, resilience, and renewal. Rather than focusing on botanical detail, I was interested in capturing a feeling — that fleeting moment of stillness when light catches the water and everything seems suspended in time.
