Traces is part of my current collection, Places Felt Rather Than Seen, exploring the way places remain with us through fragments of memory, colour and feeling. Layers of soft blush, muted teal and weathered earth tones have been built up, rubbed back and painted over, allowing glimpses of earlier marks to remain. Scratched lines, loose brushwork and quieter areas create a balance between movement and stillness. Rather than depicting a particular landscape, Traces holds the feeling of somewhere remembered—partly obscured, gradually revealed and shaped by what has gone before. The painting invites a slower look, with new details emerging as the eye moves across its layered surface. It measures 80x80cm on a wooden panel.
